Kids cook up a storm after school recipe book launch

Kids cook up a storm after school recipe book launch

Kids are always being encouraged to take a more active role in the kitchen - after all, healthy eating is hugely important for growing children and getting them whipping up a pasta sauce or kneading fresh bread is a sure fire way to get them interested in food.

Which is why it is hardly surprising that the Hardy's Den Out of School Club, which is run by Cleethorpes Childcare, has published its own cookbook.

The tome was released last month as a fundraising initiative and has some great ideas to help kids use culinary spices creatively - including homemade guacamole.

Following the launch, the kids behind the dazzling book, all of whom are aged between four and 11, have held a cook off in the style of hit TV series Ready, Steady, Cook.

Speaking to the Grimsby Telegraph about the cooking competition held at Hardy's Den, Lucas Albion, 11, said: "I cook with my mum at home too, and I'm learning life skills which I can use in the future to cook for friends and family."
