Culinary herbs can contribute to a different kind of soup

Soup can benefit from the inclusion of herbs and spices

Culinary herbs have a very wide range of uses in many different kinds of meal, which is often said to be one of the best features of the ingredients.

McCormick's resident expert Chef Steve certainly thinks so, citing it as one of his personal favourite reasons to use herbs and spices.

He also says that researching other culinary cultures is one of his key sources of inspiration.

Caterers could find that this will lead them to experiment with new combinations of herbs to create distinctive flavour pairings.

Indeed, author of the Countrywise Country Cookbook Mike Robinson suggested using turmeric, ginger and cumin in a recipe for venison mulligatawny.

In an article for the Guardian, he explained this comes from Sri Lanka and is quite thin, but very spicy.

Here at Schwartz for Chef, we offer a wide range of culinary spices and herbs, as well as many other products that could be great for chefs looking to branch out.

For instance, Noel's boasts a delicatessen range of condiments that could make an interesting side serving or addition to a starter.
