Ground Cinnamon

Ground cinnamon is the smooth powder version of cinnamon sticks. Cinnamon comes from the inner bark od a tropical evergreen tree.

Uses in the Kitchen
Used in desserts and baking as well as in Moroccan and Indian dishes. Sprinkle onto diced apples when cooking to make a tasty base for apple crumble. Mix with minced lamb, cumin, coriander and chilli to make lamb kofta kebabs.

Origins
Cinnamon was one of the first known spices. The Romans believed Cinnamon's fragrance sacred and burned it at funerals. Because Cinnamon was one of the first spices sought in the 15th Century European explorations, some say it indirectly led to the discovery of America.
